Terms of service
Last updated 2026-10-09
These terms are an agreement between you and Small Rows, Alberta, Canada ("we", "us") for the Hourly Sheets add-on, the Earnings by Small Rows add-on, the Freelance Billing Kit by Small Rows (a spreadsheet file you download) and the Small Rows website (together, the "Service"). By installing or using the Service you agree to them. If you use it for an organization, you confirm you can agree on its behalf.
1. What the Service is
- Hourly Sheets (not released yet) is a Google Sheets add-on that uses your own Toggl Track API token to copy time-entry data into your spreadsheet and build summaries and an invoice draft.
- Earnings by Small Rows (not released yet) is a Google Sheets add-on that uses API tokens you supply to copy your sales from Gumroad, Polar and Lemon Squeezy (and Ko-fi or Payhip CSV files you import) into your spreadsheet and build sales, monthly, tax and payout tabs. Section 5 has terms that apply only to it.
- Freelance Billing Kit by Small Rows is a spreadsheet workbook (an .xlsx file) that you download and use in your own spreadsheet app. It works with formulas only: no macros, no add-on and no connection to any service.
The two add-ons are independent software. They are not made, endorsed or supported by Google, Toggl, Gumroad, Polar, Lemon Squeezy, Ko-fi or Payhip. (We do use Polar, separately, to sell our own plans; see section 4.)
2. Run by an AI assistant
The Service is built and operated day to day by an AI assistant acting for the owner named above, who is responsible for the business. Support replies, documentation and updates are mostly written by that assistant. They can contain mistakes, so check important figures, especially invoices and sales or tax totals, before relying on them.
3. Your accounts and data
- You need your own Google account, plus your own account with each service you connect (Toggl Track, Gumroad, Polar or Lemon Squeezy), and must follow their terms, including their API terms and rate limits.
- You are responsible for keeping your API tokens and license key confidential, and for revoking a token at its service if you think it has leaked.
- Your data stays yours. We claim no rights to it. See the privacy policy.
4. Plans, billing and cancellation
- Each add-on has a Free plan that costs nothing, with the limits described on its pricing page: Hourly Sheets pricing and Earnings by Small Rows pricing. Earnings by Small Rows isn't on sale yet. Its planned prices (Pro US$6/month or US$54/year) are not final and may change before launch.
- Paid plans are subscriptions sold through Polar, which acts as merchant of record. Polar's checkout terms apply to the purchase, and Polar collects any applicable taxes. A paid plan is unlocked with a license key from Polar, which the add-on checks with Polar's license service.
- The Freelance Billing Kit by Small Rows is a one-time purchase (price on its page), also sold through Polar as merchant of record, which collects any applicable taxes and gives you a link to download the file. It has no subscription and no license key.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period (monthly, or yearly where offered) until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from the Polar customer portal, and paid features continue to the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
- We may change prices for future billing periods. We'll give existing subscribers at least 30 days' notice by email.
- A license is for the number of people your plan includes (Hourly Sheets Pro: one person; Team: up to 5. Earnings by Small Rows Pro: one person). Please don't share keys beyond that.
5. Extra terms for Earnings by Small Rows
Earnings by Small Rows isn't available to install yet. This section describes how the current version works, and we'll update it if that changes before release.
- Your tokens, read requests only. You supply your own API token for each platform you connect. The add-on stores it in your own Google account's
Apps Script user properties (not visible to other people using the same spreadsheet) and sends it only to that platform's API. It only sends read (GET) requests to
Gumroad, Polar and Lemon Squeezy: it never issues refunds, edits or deletes anything in your seller accounts. Some tokens can do more than read: Polar lets you limit a token to
orders:read, but as far as we can tell Gumroad's can't be limited, and you can revoke a token at its platform at any time. (On Pro, a separate license check sends your Small Rows license key to Polar's license-key service. That checks our license, not your seller account.) - Where your sales data goes. Sales data goes from each platform you connect, through Google's Apps Script servers, into the spreadsheet you use the add-on in. We run no server that receives it. Details, including buyer emails (off unless you turn them on), are in the privacy policy.
- Figures are as reported, with some estimates and gaps. Amounts are copied as each platform's API reports them, in each order's own currency, and are never converted or added across currencies. Lemon Squeezy's API has no fee field, so its fee is an estimate (its published base fee of 5% + 50¢), labelled "estimated" in the sheet, and the real fee can be higher. Where a platform doesn't give a figure (for example a Gumroad partial-refund amount), the cell is left blank rather than guessed. Regular syncs re-read only the last 35 days, so later refunds or chargebacks on older orders only appear after "Rebuild". The Ko-fi and Payhip import column names are based on our best reading of those platforms' exports and haven't been verified. The known gaps are listed on the product page.
- Not accounting or tax advice. The sheets are a convenience for your own records. They are not accounting, bookkeeping, tax or legal advice, and the Tax Collected tab is a record of what the platforms report, not a tax filing. Check figures against each platform's own reports and payouts before you rely on them, and ask an accountant what you need to report.
- The platforms can change. Earnings by Small Rows depends on Gumroad's, Polar's and Lemon Squeezy's APIs, which they can change or withdraw. If a change breaks the add-on, we'll fix it if we can or say plainly that we can't (see section 7).
6. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to break the law or someone else's rights, to get around the limits or security of Google or any connected service, or to resell or redistribute the add-ons' code or license keys. Don't try to reverse-engineer the license check. We may suspend licenses used in breach of these terms.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service working, but it depends on Google, Polar and the services you connect (Toggl, Gumroad, Polar and Lemon Squeezy), which can change or limit their services at any time. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may add, change or remove features. If we discontinue a paid product, we'll refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
8. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The Service is a tool to help you prepare reports, invoices and sales records. It is not accounting, tax or legal advice, and you are responsible for what you send to your clients and what you report to tax authorities.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, or any rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.
10. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling it and cancelling any subscription. We may suspend or end access for a material breach of these terms. Sections 8 to 12 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. The courts of Alberta have jurisdiction, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring claims where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for material changes, notify paying customers by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
